I'm going to copy the same review to the last four books of this series. It is rare that I read a series one right after another because I usually lose steam or interest. This series is the exception. I've edited the first one to reflect the fact that I enthusiastically read the whole series one after another. Well developed characters, a narrative that ends satisfactorily with the most of the ends tied up nicely but not conclusively. You are happy to live in the notion that these wonderful characters live interestingly after the last page.

Welcome to Victorian England, the land of precise manners and social niceties, the world of scientific discoveries and technological wonders, and a country tolerant of supernatural and preternatural creatures living amongst them. Adriana is preternatural, one without a soul, and a rare creature in the world. Her status is a deeply kept secret so that very few know of her existence as a preternatural creature. Her soulless state has the power at her touch to make vampires and werewolves human again.

Adriana, werewolves, vampires, love, hats, inventions and page turning action keep you turning pages throughout the five books.

What follows is a delightful mix of society niceties a la the Regency novel genre and steampunk plots and conspiracies. Imaginative, witty and a lot of fun to read with edge of your seat menace and characters you adore.

I am looking forward to this excellent writer's next series and next series.....
