Read in October, 2008

i finished this book at a trappist (cistercian) monastery in south carolina called metkin abbey. though the theology or lack thereof in the zen monks is striking, but there's a lot of day to day life that correspond with the christian trappist monks.

life of practice and discipline is hard. i often want simple answers to my pain and hardships, but often it just means i face them and do the best i can.
