Book 3 of the House of Night series is another fun read. I have to say, I could not believe some of the choices Zoey was making—so obviously idiotic at times—but I was saved from actually starting to dislike her by how obvious it was that she knew she was being an idiot. ("I think I'm turning into a ho.")
She's also a very typical teenage girl, despite all her special abilities and extra responsibilities. The actions she takes are fairly predictable, and you can just see that the only way she is going to really learn anything is to go ahead and make all the mistakes.
Even so, I do think that Zoey has her head screwed on pretty straight on important issues. The mistakes she makes are perfectly understandable, especially for a teenage girl.
I am somewhat torn: I think I'm mostly Team Heath, with a bit of Team Erik (Loren has been creepy from day 1, in my opinion
). I mostly feel sorry for Erik at this point, but the ending left me wondering what will happen in book 4!
The one thing that really disappointed me in this book was the huge number of spelling (and in some cases grammatical) errors. I think my favorite was when Zoey explained that she had arrived and rushed in like the "calvary" at the end of book 2. There were a lot of missing letters as well. I really don't get how editors miss these things, at least not in these quantities. A missed misspelling here and there is perfectly understandable, but... sheesh.
