I don't quite know how to review this book. I do have a softspot for books that play with POV, and this book certainly takes the proverbial cake on that. It is incredibly readable as one gets sucked into the intertwining lives - and it often is a mystery as to HOW they intertwine, but rest assured, they do.
Yet, this book is infused with such a sadness. An underlying depression that ekes through the pages and makes one wonder, what's it all about, Alfie? Bad and sad things happen - and the book jacket says it's a tale of redemption, but I believe it's a small "r" in redemption. Maybe.
Yet, I give it 4 stars because it is incredibly well-written. Thought provoking and engaging and it lingers and makes one think. What more can you ask? If you say "puppy dogs and butterflies," seek other novels.
