The Gormenghast Novels: Titus Groan, Gormenghast, Titus Alone by Mervyn Peake
So far, reading this book has been worthwhile, but tough. I've compared it to Dickens in that you can't just breeze through it. If I weren't stuck in the same place for a 24-hour period at work, I would probably have put this back on the shelf for a rainy day . . . that lasts for around 96 hours.
