I'm only half way through this book so far, but it's definitely a page turner. Hastings offers a unique look at general officer politics, war, and the military-civilian balance. And for the ideologues out there, I think the book is fair to both liberal and conservative views on the Afghan war. Also, I find Hastings' writing style is fresh and entertaining. You definitely won't get bored with this one.
