This is about average compared to similar children’s dictionaries. It is ideal for the targeted age group due to format.

Purpose: children including word histories, sample sentences, a pronunciation guide, a thesaurus and world maps.

Validity: Scholastic is a global publishing company known for its educational materials. Many schools turn to their book club offers and host book fairs using their resources.

Format: This 2010 print edition is very well illustrated, including the world maps.

In addition to the average dictionary, Scholastic has included a thesaurus and guides to grammar, pronunciation, and abbreviations as maps and information about countries and U.S states and presidents. The pronunciation guide uses letter sounds instead of symbols. It also uses a vast array of illustrations to keep the attention of young reader.
