From What I Remember by Stacy Kramer and Valerie Thomas has been described as The Hangover for YA. I am going to be honest here: I don’t like The Hangover, I don’t like the “let’s backtrack 24 hours!” trope, multiple POVs can be a hit or miss for me but I ended up being TOTALLY INTO this book. I sat down to read one chapter and ended up devouring it all in one go.

This book is told in multiple POVs which like I said, can be a hit or miss but it works here. Each character has a distinctive voice with their own set of problems and it’s so interesting to see each character’s layer get peeled away. Kylie is the main character, half Latina & half Jewish (when I learned that I was like “Eh?” looking at the cover since I’m sure the girl in the pink is suppose to be her but okay…) and knows what she wants in life. She’s strong, the glue that keeps her family together, and her friendship with Will is so great. Love their film quote friendship and the film quotes in each chapter beginning. I wanted to smack Max at first but once I got to know him, I really enjoyed him. I can say that for pretty much all the characters. Every character had their complexities which can be a tricky feat to manage with five voices so kudos for doing it so well.

Stacy Kramer and Valerie Thomas have backgrounds in film and it definitely shows. The pacing of this is excellent, you’ll want to keep turning the page to see what happens next. I read that this book is optioned for film and I think it would be the perfect summer flick. It’s such a fun, enjoyable romp!
