Kick-Ass 2 is a gruesome sequel to by comparison its "mild" predecessor. I say mild because in this iteration, everything goes to hell. Multiple characters die, people get raped, and the language is even more so abrasive than the first. Characters and their relationships have already been established so much of this series nods to a brutal plot-line muddled in tragedy.

It's not the best piece of superhero fiction but it certainly (when not spattering blood everywhere) explores the doubly absurd and noble act of real life superheroism better than its contemporaries. The previous book documented a young man's obsession with vigilante antics; this one lampoons the drama of an organized crime watch and unbridled chaos at its tackiest. I see a lot of the "Rain City Superhero Movement" inspiring this work as well. If you don't know what that is, look it up.

If you can barrel through the gung-ho swearing, it's a fun read. Just don't expect too much.
