This is the 4th story in the Pescoli/Alvarez series. The past stories have not really been about Selena Alvarez as much as Regan Pescoli. In this story, Afraid to Die, we find out some of Alvarez's secrets and we get to meet some of the people involved. She has always been a "by the book" kind of cop that lives her job and little else, but the happenings in the story force her to face her past and help find a new Christmas killer in their town of Grizzly Falls. Of course Pescoli is still trying to come to terms with her relationship with her boyfriend, she is still putting off the decision to take it to the next level and of course her children are still disappointing her regularly. I love Lisa Jackson, she makes familiar characters never be tiring and she weaves a great mystery.
