Honestly, though the prologue was good, the first chapter was a real turn off for me. Thirty-three pages of boredom with hardly a break in between. I nearly divorced this book at several points, but fortunately I found Fallen intriguing enough once the plot actually began to move. And I had enjoyed the many unexpected twists and turns and the shrouded mystery of Daniel and Luce’s romance.

However, I really couldn’t connect with Luce, and compared to Cam, I really did not like Daniel. Even Luce and Daniel’s bantering, which I generally enjoy in a good book, was not as enticing as in other novels I’ve read. And at times, the characters and their feelings just plain confused me.

To further distract the reader, the plot had some things and events that didn’t connect for me or were, in my opinion, somewhat pointless, especially in the case of what happened to the character Penn and the entire battle at the end. Actually, I’ll just say it, I found the end baffling. It was like trying to focus after being hit upside the head. I wanted to make out what was happening, but the words just blurred together, and I couldn’t get a clear image of what was going on.

I plan to still continue the saga, but after this first book, I not holding much hope for the series. In a word, disappointed, especially after all the hype I heard about it.
