When Mischa's girlfriend gets a job in Thailand, he decides to follow her, find freelance journalism work, and experience a new culture. Once there, however, his existence is somewhat aimless until he begins to investigate the story of a jailed American anthropologist. I tried to care about the characters, including the unfortunate Martiya, doomed to die in prison, but they seemed very unappealing. The book is written as if the author is the main character so I guess I was supposed to wonder if it was autobiographical or just meant to be cutesy.
