I had a hard time slipping into Waugh's vernacular with this one (it was the same feeling as when you start reading Shakespeare or watching a slangy British movie and it takes you a minute to get into the groove). If you can get past that, though, this is astringent and scandalous and absurdly funny, with the same comedy/despair mixture as A Handful of Dust. Recommended for fans of the Bright Young Things.
