really liked it
bookshelves: creepy, literary-ish

Dark and completely twisted. I didn't trust either character to begin with, which is a weird way to get into a story. Through half of the book, I thought the writing was overly florid in places and was vaguely annoyed by it, but suddenly that writing made sense and everything got awesome and weird and stressful at the same time. (My brain went through a lot of "Yes! Go! Wait. Wait, WHAT? Holy crap. WHAT!?" throughout.) I was uncomfortable and horrified with the ending, but... I think I'm comfortable with that uncomfortable-ness? That makes no sense without spoilers, but--look, it just works with these characters.

This is worth it just for the rant against the male ideal of the "Cool Girl."
