I found the 8-year-old voice quite authentic, and the creative twist at the end was well-maintained throughout the novel. The abuse was generally delicately rendered, which was greatly appreciated. The novel was an easy read but hit just one note for me; it didn't have the depth of subject or interest that many of the other novels we have read for book group held for me.

Lisa Good review! I felt the same didn't have NUANCE or DEPTH. I felt that this was by far the weakest book that we've read as a group (not counting The Choice---ugggghhhhh).
