Isabel yeah, the tampon thing. See, I read that as an intro to how hard it is to grow up without a mother. That has got to be one of the hardest things to navigate as a girl with no adult woman in your inner circle. But aside from that, we don't get a lot of deep connection b/w mother and daughter, you know aside from some odd jokes and snorts. Jade felt abandoned, and even went to a therapist, but one look at her mer-mom and her issues go away? And while it's cool to step up and save your mother, what happened to her need for an adult to hold HER hand? I thought that issue was introduced well and dumped too fast. That's my biggest complaint throughout, really. Great ideas, but they don't get developed. Instead we get some funny one liners and a really rushed romance. (ITA about how she moves from one place to another with no real reason, btw.)
