This book was very influential during my first pregnancy and natural birth at home. Re-reading in preparation of Baby Brother's birth, which is fast approaching!

Parts of this book I wish were "required reading" for all mothers-to-be, but I know that there is a potential for some to be turned off by the heavy "birth art" influence. Although I did not choose to take part in the artistic rituals, I still found the stories meaningful and useful in childbirth preparation.

The author's chapter on home birth essentially finalized my original decision in 2006 to opt for a pleasant, safe attended birth at home without routine interventions.
