Almost Perfect continues the Fools Gold series with the story of Liz Sutton and Ethan Hendrix. Liz is a successful author who despite becoming an unwed mother just out of high school with no parental support and having to give up a college scholarship has made a good life for herself and her son Tyler. After receiving a desperate email from her two nieces, Liz reluctantly returns to Fools Gold. After discovering her brother is in prison leaving two daughters with no one to care for them, Liz plans to fix up the family home and then move the girls to San Francisco with her and Tyler. At first she finds little support from the town she left long ago and runs into Tyler's father, Ethan Hendrix which complicates the situation. I enjoyed seeing how Liz overcomes the difficulties in her life but Ethan is thoroughly unlikeable. Even though he treated Liz horribly and refuses to listen to her explanations of her actions, he decides he should be a father to Tyler at Liz's expenses. Like all romances it ends well but perhaps Liz would have been better off moving all the kids to San Francisco immediately and demolishing the old family home.
