This might just be my favorite vampire book that I have read yet. The protagonist manages to be a nice person without being a wimp or a pushover, which is incredibly rare in fiction, although it shouldn't be. Some of the backstory includes ideas that have been done before A LOT but the writing style was unique, and the characters had some depth, so the rehashing of old themes didn't bother me at all. I loved that there was no gushy romance. I'll definitely read the next in the series.
