I enjoyed this book, and the writing was nice. I didn't quite buy into the romance between the two main characters, however - Ellie's appeal to Adam is clear, and makes sense with his past and present, but in my opinion the author never supports why he appeals to her. The story could have, and should have, been deeper on that subject - if it had been explored, or at least indicated, this would be an excellent, provocative novel. As it stands, it is an enjoyable, mildly upsetting one.

N.B. My reading of THE AGE OF INNOCENCE is a distant, nearly empty memory - perhaps if I knew it better my opinion would change.
