I loved the first half of this book. It reads as a series of diary entries chronicling, tomboy Jadyn's friendship with two very charming boys, Phillip and Danny. The story opens with one of the boys asking Jadyn to marry him! The fun is trying to figure out which one is asking. Which one is "That Boy"? The story flashes back to Jadyn's first diary entry as a child, I think as a fourth grader. The diary entries continue through the years, detailing her life and her relationship with both boys all the way through grade school, high school, college and into adulthood. At times, the book is endearing and funny and sometimes it is just plain heartbreaking. Let me tell you, both Phillip and Danny were amazing. You won't be able to pick which one you love more. I was so afraid someone would get his heart broken. Nope, not telling.

The second half of the book, however, began to drag for me. Choose already Jadyn! I think the voice that was endearing as a child and teen came across a bit immature in an adult. These factors kept me from loving the book.

The story did pick up again near the end and I will look for the sequel. I can't forget to mention the adorable illustrations that are scattered throughout the book.
