One of the best military history books I've read. Strikes an excellent balance between accessibility and academic. While reading it, the style reminds me of a professor lecturing. Not some slow, drawling talk though, but an animated speaker, intimately - perhaps even too much so - knowledgeable about the subject and thus every other minute gets lost on a tangent to provide an excellent aside.
