This was a huge story with beautifully constructed sentences. There were so many characters to keep up with but all seemed essential to the story. There were many ups and downs in the story but somehow the writing didn't convey the magnitude of the events. It seemed too flat and consistent. I did learn a lot about the Japanese culture, sumo wrestling and mask making.
