Okay, so I think this is where the plot kicked in. The first volume, while titillating in places, also lacked a bit of oomph. I felt more oomph in this one. Or maybe it was that the characters started to feel more like characters and less like fanfic cut-outs.

The Christian-is-Aleksander-Skarsgaard thing still was working overtime while I read this, and I also continued to read it in public places while holding the cover against my thigh as I sat, as if this would somehow throw off any puritans hanging around the train station.

I had fun with this installment, and was all ready to forge ahead with the final in the trilogy... and then I found that it was all becoming Fifty Shades of Bored Now. Maybe I'll try finishing off the series later in the year, but for now, I've had all the "inner goddess" clap-trap I can handle. Though thanks for the tip about the spreader bar. ;)

Peyton I'm not going to read any of these books, but don't you think it's a little silly that you had to read the second book in the series to get any development an plot?!?

Jane McGaughey Oh, it's *more* than a little silly! I read them on the advice of a mother-of-two-teacher we both know and was, obviously, less than impressed. She also misled me on all that Twilight garbage. In order to cleanse my palate, I watched Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice directly after not finishing Book #3 of Fifty Shades. Mr Darcy made everything right in the world again. God bless Jane Austen. ;)
