Disappointed. The books is not bad but it is not special either. I was hoping that Krentz/Quick's efforts to de-link the Arcane Society books would refresh the books by my favorite author. The old trust and respect themes are very evident so it was comforting to see them but little was done to freshen them up. I liked the new premise of intelligent women working as companions/inquiry agents and the relationship between the three was strong. Did not like the movement away from very specific psychic talents to more generalized talents because the talents were then employed as deus ex machina and that always strikes me as sloppy. This author is better than that.

I will continue to get her new books through the library until I see something fresher. A real shame since I purchase everything she wrote from the 80s through 2005 without looking at the reviews. I once thought I would have a complete collection of all of her books but that won't happen now.
