Teddy Roosevelt's final and possibly most epic journey through the Amazon is captured very well by Millard. Current Presidents or former US presidents don't come like this man. TR, his son Kermit, Rondon (a native seasoned South American bush man) head out to the river of doubt.

The book transitions well from painting a picture of the Amazon forest to Roosevelt and his teams adventure. I particularly liked learning about the various species from piranha and even parasites at a microscopic level.
