Alexander Hamilton is a captivating and intriguing look into one of America's crucial founding fathers. Ron Chernow does a wonderful job of capturing the complex intellect of this man as well as his shortcomings. The book would interest anyone with a passing interest in American history. The book is rather long at over 700 pages. But Chernow is adept at providing sufficient plot development to keep the story moving forward.

The biography will also inform you a lot about other founding fathers (i.e. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington). Certain parts of the book seemed to be drowned in detail but I was able to finish it with enthusiasm. If you choose to read it I recommend finishing it over several weeks. The detailed, scholarly style of writing can bore you if read continuously so it is best to experience the story in pieces. Overall you will be blessed with a portrait of one America's most brilliant, yet misunderstood leaders.
