The narrator of this supposed autobiography is a woman, presumably one of the main characters,
Patty Bergland. This book within a book is called Mistakes Were Made. It is very long and
involved. It is well-crafted and a good story of this married couple from Minnesota and their
children and extended families. However, it is way too long. It turned into a slog.It is worth
reading for its complicated tales of married life, childhood, and family relations, but one
must be very patient with its verbosity.
