it was amazing

Unique, intriguing, wonderful main character (both of her personalities!)

I especially love her inner thoughts which slice up "pirate" revenge on anyone who is vexing her like when a date she's on goes bad and she visualizes: I was already stuffing his eye sockets with salted limes, already carving his acne off, zit by zit, and feeding it to him. Her language and characterizations are original and clever.

This book is not meant for young kids since it portrays violent historical moments of pillaging and rape. But it's a wonderful ride on a pirate ship mixed with realistic scenes of American teen life, too.

And all through the story are bits of humorous, dark wisdom about dogs -- since our heroine has lived 100 lives as a dog.

Do NOT miss this book. Read it and talk about it. Then read it again.
