I was in two minds before buying my copy of the Happiness project. I read many reviews, some positive and some negative. But I did find her website useful so I decided to get my book anyways. I could relate to her when she said she wanted to be happy with our current life and not just realize what a wonderful life it was only after a disaster occurred. I have met several people in the exact situation, including me, who have everything in life but not as happy as we are supposed to be . Gretchen states that this book is her happiness project and it need not be ours. We need to chart out what makes us sad, happy and work on it.

She breaks up her resolutions that she can focus one 2 or 3 a month. I love her resolutions and it did encourage me to do things such as clean my desk and make sure that before I go to bed all the small papers and books that lay on my desk are moved away instead of letting it pile up till I can’t see my desk. I threw away all the shopping and ATM receipts that I collected over the years so that I could reuse the paper once the ink faded away. I am also planning to keep a book containing the addresses and birthdays of my close friends and relatives.

I also like that fact that Gretchen is candid too when she states about things that doesn’t work like when she stopped wearing a pedometer after finding it useful initially or when she found writing in her gratitude journal daily was tedious and in turn started writing in weekly instead.

This book is definitely a must buy according to me.
