I was unbelievably honored to receive an advance copy of The Next Best Thing, and could not wait to devour Jennifer Weiner’s tenth book. I just finished the book this morning, and am so pleased to be able to let her many other fans know how much I enjoyed it.

First of all, I’m someone who is embarrassingly interested in Hollywood culture and behind-the-scenes antics, so right off the bat, I knew I was going to enjoy Ruth Saunders’ story. Ms. Weiner crafted a likeable, root-for-her worthy character with intelligence and great wit. While she’s physically not your typical heroine (refreshing change), I admired the author’s choice of letting Ruthie’s differences develop her personality and spirit…rather than define them.

So in a nod to Ruthie’s passion for swimming, I suggest you all dive in to this fantastic summer read!
