I'm conflicted. On the one hand it's hard to argue with any of the advice and observations Kleon puts forth. He's spot on when he recommends seeking inspiration from others, sharing work, and maintaining a disciplined work schedule. He's also compiled some great examples from a wide range of creative types.

On the other hand, "Steal Like an Artist" presents a fairly cursory treatment of what is arguably a very complex set of topics. The end result is something akin to a commencement address fleshed out with all manner of proverbs, platitudes, maxims and mantras. Still, it's useful content that's worth reading if you're in any way interested in creativity.

RIYL: Seth Godin, TEDTalks, Leo Babuata, Hugh MacLeod, commencement addresses.
