An interesting book - not great literature - but it includes an interesting and critical historical introduction, a literary introduction, and a valuable annotated bibligraphy. A good edition, with the text both in french and in a clear english translation. The english is only 26 pages, so this is barely even a novella.

Thomas Baughman There's a pretty good French film based on this book. I think it was directed by Jean-Pierre Melville.
