I really enjoyed this on my first read last year, via audio book. I liked it even more this time around reading it myself. There's a lot I missed the first time that I picked up on this go-round. Great characters, great story, fascinating peeks into history and alchemy.

Strangely enough, my favorite character is Bishop House. What's not to love about a house that steals things whenever it wants your attention, only to give it back sometimes years later when you need it! It also throws temper tantrums, gets scared and nervous, soothes its family's worries, and keeps a secret or 5. It reminds me slightly of the apple tree in Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen, who also has its own personality.
