Simon Rich is so mordantly droll I'm surprised he has any friends (admirers, perhaps, but friends...). He's created a signature style that blends meticulously remembered childhood fantasies, a dollop of Steven Wright, and an Americanized version of Monty Python (substitute dead parrots with free-range chickens). If you took this book and his Ant Farm together, it would make one average-length book.

Rich may need to try something different soon -- I have a feeling that his style, even though I love it, could get wearisome fast.
