Thia was a somewhat melancholy story of two women who are neighbors, but are both at very different stages of their lives. Delia's, the wife of Senator Tom Naughton, has three grown children and has settled into a comfortable life in her old age. Meri, on the other hand, is a newly-wed who is just beginning to learn what it means to be married and find her way in the world. It's interesting to see how their lives overlap and how they diverge, while the story was well written and detailed, I just found Meri to be difficult to like, and both of their stories to be just a bit too sad - and not in a compelling way, but in a depressing way. I don't regret having read this book, but I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone either.
