Off Balance: A Memoir

Dominique moceanu presents a side of elite gymnastics that few ever discuss. Her insights will certainly make it interesting to watch as the 2012 Olympic team is selected in a few weeks. While I appreciate the courage it took to write this book, the work itself is far from perfect. Dominique switches from past to present in seemingly random places. It is distracting, and pulls the reader from the story. In addition, the writing of the book is mediocre at best. There were many places where the grammar- or lack thereof- was glaring and frustrating. This book could have benefited greatly from a strong editing. An intriguing story that is recommended to anyone interested in gymnastics or adoption, just don't expect too much.
