A friend recommended this YA book to me and I'm so glad he did.

Sammy doesn't know he's a necromancer until he accidentally comes to the attention of an evil necromancer who wants his gift. Looking to describe the story, I guess it itself isn't that spectacular or unusual, but the author has a fun voice (voice is big with me) and fills the book with lots of likable characters that makes this story enjoyable enough that I've downloaded the related novella from big, bad Amazon and plan to read the sequel as well when it comes out.

My favorite part? When Sam pets Douglas's "cat" because, unbeknownst to him, this isn't an ordinary cat and clearly NO ONE else would presume to pet this "cat."
