Probably 3.5 stars. I am also probably being too harsh, because of my high expectations after reading Ship Breaker (one of my favorites among the glut of dystopian YA novels). This is obviously a "message" novels and depicts the horrors and senselessness of war very well. This becomes repetitive, however, and I feel that it interferes with character and plot development.
