The ending of this novel was not what I expected, but still a lovely novel. The sparse style makes it an easy read - easily one day - and the characters are very compelling, despite what could easily go overboard. The characters are unknown in many ways, and it helps to drive the reader through the work. The ending fell flat after the lovely descriptions and musings prior; the last few pages lacked a real "oomph," and I think something may have been lost in translation of the last line. Over all, it was a lovely read, and one I would recommend, especially for lyric descriptions and a solid story.
