really liked it

Read in October, 2008 , read count: 1

Part autobiography, part textbook, part "mentor sitting down with you for a cup of coffee to show you the ropes." I've read a few of King's novels and liked them but not loved them, so I kind of expected to feel the same way about this, but this was inspiring--it made me feel the rush of wanting to write again. Also, it's nice to have someone say "Writer commercial fiction, whatever genre you like, because you love it! Screw the critics!" Granted, he's made a nice living on screwing the critics, but it's still nice to get "permission" to write a "lower" form of fiction.

Also, reading where he's come from, even a little bit, goes a long way toward explaining why he's got....some quirks.
