As a longtime rugby player I wanted to find out how the US managed to win the only two Olympic gold medals awarded in rugby XVs. This book answers it pretty well - slight spoiler - most of the traditional powerhouses didn't show up. That being said the Americans did overcome a lot, dealing with many of the same issues US rugby continues to face today, and managed to win twice as the underdogs.

The main problems I had with the book are the writing, amount of conjecture/attribution from the author, and focusing on lives of some specific players more than the rugby. The writing was pretty choppy, so it didn't flow well. The author posits a lot of what specific people must of felt like and relied a lot on memories of the actors children for stories.
