City of Women
by David R. Gillham
by David R. Gillham
I've finished and already started a new book, but I'm still thinking about City of Women. David R. Gillham did a fantastic job with Sigrid's development from a boring, adulterous wife to heroine. As a woman, I am impressed and grateful to the author for portraying an occasionally flawed, but altogether strong and admirable role model The book has a romantic feel to it mixed with the realism that comes with war. I felt as if I really was in Berlin while reading this. Perhaps the most profound influence City of Women has on me is the same influence I got from Schindler's List, Night, and the Diary of Anne Frank. Hate is easy, but it takes real courage and effort to stand up for what's right. I can't wait to read more from Mr. Gillham.
