Beautifully rhythmic prose, written in first-person plural, that demonstrated a multiplicity of stories and of experiences--a definite plus in ethnicity-focused fiction, where avoiding the danger of a single story definitely enhances the narrative. The book also remained ever-conscious of intersectionality and intra-POC interactions, which only made the story stronger and deeper. There were nuances everywhere.

What succeeded less for me was the book's ending; shifting to a different POV, to the outsider gaze, was jarring for me, and it left me fairly unsatisfied with the story.
