I love this series, and I've become attached to all the remaining characters (despite an early warning that most of them die before the end of book 8). The latest installment is a move outward -- beyond the initial group led by Rick and into "A Larger World," an attempt to rebuild civilization through trade. I admit that I was a little annoyed by some of the religious symbolism -- the character called "Jesus" and the "city on a hill" -- but it's an interesting move for the series.
