One Fine Day is about a fox who goes on an adventure. Along the way he meets many interesting characters and tries to persuade them to help him with his problem.
Overall, children will have a lot of fun trying to guess what will happen to the fox. The illustrations capture what the fox is going through on his journey.
Specifically, the reader can see the emotions he is feeling. When, I look at some of the illustrations I feel sorry for the fox. I know by looking at the last illustration that there is a happy ending for the fox.
As a teacher, I would ask my kindergarteners, "What do you think will happen to the fox and what from the story leads you to believe this?" This book provides an opportunity to practice making predictions and shows children that illustrations can help shape predictions. It also teaches them to go back to the story and think about the text and the illustrations to explain their predictions.
