Odd Apocalypse (Odd Thomas, #5)
by Dean Koontz
by Dean Koontz
Dean Koontz's "Odd Apocalypse" is the lastest novel to feature the quirky fry cook, Odd Thomas. Written in his point of view, the story takes place in Roseland, the gated mansion and propery of an eccentric millionaire.
Odd finds himself a guest when his pregnant friend, Annamaria, inexplicably charms an invitation from Noah Wolflaw, the above mentioned millionaire. Odd knows something weird is going on when he sees a beautiful blonde woman in a flowing white nightgown riding a horse, a ghost who desperately wants him to save her son. Then he has apocalyptic visions of a yellow sky and scorched ground, but stranger still are the deformed creatures who appear to be part boar and part human, and 100% set on killing him. And why is there only a handful of staff to run such a large estate?
As a huge Dean Koontz fan, I loved this book! Odd Thomas might be a fry cook by trade, but he is one of the most unique of all Koontz characters, in my opinion. Dead people seek him out for help, he's lovesick over his dead girlfriend, doesn't like foul language, and the style in which he speaks and thinks is almost cozy, sometimes quite funny, and always guarantees a great read.
