Wife 22
By
Melanie Gideon

My" in a nutshell" summary...

A less than perfect marriage, a sort of unfulfilled wife and an anonymous survey...the story of a family and a marriage...Alice...drama teacher/ playwright and William...ad executive/chef.  This book is about what happens to them when life gets a bit rocky!

My thoughts after reading this book...

Reading Wife 22 was quite a pleasant experience.  Alice and William Buckle find themselves just a bit lost within their marriage.  Job issues, kid issues, relationship issues, dog issues, and friend issues all play a role in attacking their relationship.  Out of frustration Alice signs up to take part in an anonymous marriage survey...which ultimately becomes an outlet for her and one she becomes rather addicted to.  In spite of all the rules she becomes emotionally involved with her interviewer...Researcher 101.

The dialogue and banter in the book is delightful and fun.  Alice's thoughts about both of her children are so funny.  At times she wants her son Peter/ Pedro to  be gay and sort of tracks his behavior to prove to herself that he might be.  She finds tons of cupcakes in her
daughters closet and believes that her daughter has an eating disorder.

The situations in this book are too funny!  Alice is delightful as a drama teacher to young children.  She is wry and funny in dealing with her children and her friends.  She is sometimes lost and sometimes annoying but pretty much Alice is always endearing.

What I loved...

Totally loved the play Alice put on with her third grade students...especially the geese!
Loved her banter with her son.  Loved her thoughts.  Loved the way she talked to her students.

What I did not love...

I didn't  love the  survey parts ...actually the way it's written...the format...I loved the story part more than the interviewing questioning part.
But that's a minor teensy issue on my part and nothing against the actual book.

My final thoughts...

I found this to be a lively fun entertaining book with lots of fun unique characters.  A fun book to take on a trip or read in the summer when you aren't in the mood for heavy...
