I really enjoyed this first-in-the-series mystery. Rev. Clare Fergusson has just begun her pastorate at the Episcopal church in Miller's Kill, NY. She's a retired Army helicopter pilot with some hinted-at issues. Russ Van Alstyne is the local police chief who teams up with her to discover how an abandoned baby, and a young woman's murder are tied together. I think what I especially liked was the fact that both protagonists are very human. They make mistakes, they are attracted to each other despite the fact that the chief is married, and they do their best. Julia Spencer-Fleming has created some very interesting characters, to go along with a pretty realistic plot. I am looking forward to reading other novels in the series.
