I was happy to win "The Viper" because it is an English translation of a Swedish crime novel. I loved "The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo" series and wondered how this would compare. There is really no comparison because the stories are so different but "The Viper" won out for me! The story was riveting from the very first sentence! Every time I had to put it down, I was thinking about who could have committed the crimes. The characters were vivid and believable. For me, "The Viper" did not read like a translation. Yes, the names and places were difficult, but because the characters were well-written, the names became easier as I read. I hope to read more novels by this Swedish author in the future!
